Quad Cities) The Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce touted the successes of the past year to a crowd of over 1,000 business and community leaders today during its Annual Meeting.

“The Quad Cities Chamber has truly aligned its entire work plan toward achieving the goals of Q2030,” says Kristin Glass, Interim CEO, Quad Cities Chamber. “The successes we had in the past year not only helped our member businesses, they also advanced the vision of Q2030 to make the Quad Cities more cool, creative, connected and prosperous.”

Some of the highlights of the year include:

  • Numerous company expansions and relocations in the region, totaling 1,210 new jobs and $174.7M in new investment

  • Mobilizing hundreds of volunteers to advance Q2030 priorities to ensure it stays front and center as a region-wide rallying cry for increasing talent, jobs and economic opportunity for all

  • Advancement of the Quad Cities Manufacturing Innovation Hub, the Chamber’s initiative to help manufacturers diversify and adopt new technologies. The Hub connected 706 manufacturing individuals through 30 industry-specific events, and launched eight unique groups focused on new technologies

  • Successful advocacy with policymakers in Springfield to keep Exelon in the Quad Cities region

  • Assisting members in developing and strengthening business relationships through 207 networking and professional development events attended by 6,742 people

  • Provided 100 member businesses training and access to market research databases at no cost

  • Continued support of the Rock Island Arsenal; notably Chamber advocacy on behalf of the RIA to the congressional delegation and elevation of our regional defense community through the appointment of a second Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army (CASA)

  • YPQC, the Chamber’s young professional’s organization, embraced the spirit of Q2030 this year, seeking new ways to build community collaborations, increase regional pride, and create a more inclusive community

  • Advanced growth in our urban cores through the Downtown Davenport Partnership and Moline Centre, including producing quality of place events that attracted 90,000 people to the respective downtowns and facilitating $65 million in completed construction projects

In addition, the Chamber presented several awards at the event.

  • The Quad Cities Innovation in Talent Development Award was presented to Twin State Technical Services, Inc. and RSM US LLP. This award recognizes businesses that have demonstrated a commitment to developing their current workforce and establishing their reputation as a company where employees flourish.

  • The Quad Citizen Award was presented to Rev. Dwight Ford. The Quad Citizen Award recognizes an individual who distinguishes themselves as a champion of the Quad Cities region. They demonstrate extraordinary pride and positive attitude about the region, typifies the true spirit of leadership, is collaborative, open to new ideas, and thinks and acts in the best interest of the region.

  • The Q2030 Awards were presented to River Bend Food Bank and the YP Think Tank for their efforts embracing the Q2030 Regional Action Plan.
